At CraneTech, our technicians do more than repair equipment. Along the way, they solve complex electrical and mechanical challenges and help keep some of America’s most important industrial facilities operating safely and efficiently.
Whether you’re an experienced crane technician, electrician, industrial maintenance professional, military veteran or someone ready to develop a skilled trade, CraneTech gives you the opportunity to keep learning, take on new challenges and build a long-term career.
And it takes more than technicians to keep CraneTech moving. Our sales, operations, administrative and corporate teams provide the expertise and support that help our field teams—and our customers—succeed.
What does a Crane Technician Do?
No two days are exactly alike. CraneTech technicians work inside a remarkable variety of facilities and production environments across the country. From manufacturing plants and steel mills to automotive, aerospace, energy, mining, distribution and other industrial operations, each customer brings a different environment, process and set of challenges. Along the way, technicians gain firsthand exposure to how different industries operate—and the critical role lifting equipment plays in keeping production moving.
- Inspect cranes and lifting equipment
- Troubleshoot & diagnose electrical and mechanical problems
- Repair & modernize critical equipment
- Build & install new cranes, hoists and systems
That variety extends to the equipment itself. Technicians may work on overhead bridge cranes, single- and double-girder systems, gantry and semi-gantry cranes, jib cranes, monorails, wire rope and chain hoists, and other material-handling systems. Different manufacturers, capacities, configurations and control systems mean there’s always something new to learn, troubleshoot or master.
Training that Moves you Forward
The best technicians never stop learning. As part of the Steel River network, CraneTech technicians have access to hands-on training led by industry veterans from the North American Crane Bureau (NACB), a recognized leader in crane, rigging and safety training for more than 40 years. From electrical and mechanical fundamentals to crane inspection, troubleshooting, safety and advanced equipment knowledge, our training helps technicians strengthen their skills throughout their careers.
Training goes beyond instruction alone. Technicians have opportunities to work directly with equipment and components, developing practical skills they can take back into the field. Whether you’re building a foundation early in your career or expanding decades of experience, CraneTech provides opportunities to keep learning, growing and taking on new challenges.
